Saturday, March 31, 2001 / 11:20 p.m.

You would not believe what wrapped up what would've otherwise been a wonderful Saturday.

My mom, Mica and I were heading back from Plaza Senayan and was waved down by a policeman who claims that my mom drove on while the traffic light was red. Mom swore that she didn't, but the policeman simply said that she did. Funny thing is, there was a car in front of us that wasn't apprehended though it went past the same traffic light. My mom tried to explain this, in her 'Bahasa Gado-Gado' (broken Bahasa Indonesian mixed with English).
The policeman asked to see her license, and Mom handed it. The policeman then asked for the car registration papers, and unlucky us - mom couldn't find them in the glove compartment.

The policeman just took this in, then looked at her drivers license. Mom's license by the way, is an International Drivers license - a license applicable in ASEAN and U.N. nations especially. The policeman claimed it was not applicable in Indonesia.
My mom said that she could go over to the station and have it sorted out there, and oddly enough - the policeman said it was not necessary. He seemed to even discourage the very idea.

In my head were about a dozen horror stories of law enforcement officials in Indonesia and how they gleefully take advantage of 'buleh' [foreigners]. I was getting nervous at the turn of events.

And yes, the policeman did take advantage of us. He didn't want us to go the station, he wanted us to pay a 'fine'. At first my mom offered eighty thousand rupiah, money from MY OWN WALLET. Ah, but eighty thousand isn't the price!

    Two hundred-fifty thousand rupiah.

My mom had no choice but to pay it, as her license was in his hands and there was no other way out. So she paid the 'fine', and we were let off.
We took a look at the International Drivers License and the countries it's supposed to be honored in. Indonesia is one of them.

We've been had. We've just had our very first run in with Indonesia's 'trusty' law enforcement! Oh JOY!

    Punyetang polisi.

No, I will not have that particular curse translated.

I'm getting a headache recounting that particular B.S. I'll end this on the absolutely happy note of...may him and the many other corrupt law enforcement officials of Indonesia be run over by passing trucks!

*bonk* to me for missing the last episode of Boys Be...

AXN ought to give that series another run! Lest they be run over by rabid fans and loathers of subtitles with bad timing!

I ought to try to stop napping in the afternoons after school, argh!

Thursday, March 29, 2001 / 08:28 p.m.

Lately, I've been feeling exhausted. I come home, I plop into bed, rest and daydream, then fall into a really deep sleep. I don't know why - and sleep is certainly robbing me of precious time needed to cram on my projects.

Yech, I haven't even watched 'Boys Be' for the past week! Agh! Somebody update me on what's happened so far! Onegai?

I swear, school's just overloaded all its students with projects and work. Experience my ass (sorry for the coarse language) - if the students are suffering serious burn-out from the projects and assesments loading up on them, it can't be a good sign.

I'm feeling sentimental. I think I'll just babble away at my other blog, as this time I've got some personal stuff on my mind. It may be incoherent though, for people who aren't particularly close to me. Ah lah.

Monday, March 26, 2001 / 09:20 p.m.

Beware my sister, Micaela! She who is of this generation, but collects porceline dolls, music boxes...and she KNITS! I'm not kidding.

At the moment I'm doing anything BUT the stuff I'm really supposed to be doing, as usual. Gah. I know I really ought to get my act together, but the more I try to do so...the more I end up slacking. I tend to do this more nowadays AFTER I've recovered from my last bout of sickness, I noticed. I don't know what that's supposed to tell me...maybe I'm just fishing about for a good excuse. Err, you're only young once?
    Absolute B.S. - I know. =)

I am hooked on the 'Angels Eye' by Aerosmith from the 'Charlie's Angels' soundtrack. I may just do my next layout based off that particular song. I'm not sure which image I'll use with it though.

Many people have been coming across this blog from search engines. Should I be worried? I fear my classmates may come across this one time or another. Heh, I've used my real name here y'know. Just in case though...*knocks on wood*
By the way for the unlucky person who hoped to find fanfiction, mp3s, lyrics, etc - nope, nada, nilch here. You'll find rantings about them on occasion, but this most certainly isn't an archive for them. Now, go away! ;p

Sunday, March 25, 2001 / 10:17 p.m.

NJ mentioned that he feels that sense of impending doom upon him whenever he plays fighting games against me. I wonder why?
So yeah, I whap him on the head repeatedly whenever he beats me...and oh-kay, on occasion I have a tendency to curse like a sailor when the words 'You Lose' appear onscreen. But c'mon, that isn't scary! Is it? Is~ it?

Bah! I just disconned from the irc server I was on! Aw, damnit!

Oh...Adrian - where the heck are you? @.@

Friday, March 23, 2001 / 09:07 p.m.

Tin, from what I gather, the guy (his name escapes me!) and Chiharu from 'Boys Be' split up after he caught her kissing with some nice college-age guy she met while training for track and field. Ouchie.

I LOVED this afternoon's episode of 'Boys Be'! That's my first--really, dead serious here--first blatantly shounen ai anime episode I've ever seen! Course, in the end, it wasn't quite shounen ai...but the chemistry between the main character and that--err, Gatekeepers-villain-lookalike-guy (spare me okay, my brain is fried my school projects so I neglect to remember the characters names!)! Wahaaiiii!
Oh, Makoto-kun (ha! I remembered his name!) is adorable. Frighteningly alike to a classmate of mine, but funny in the series anyhow.

I reckon the 'Gatekeepers' episode awhile ago was making fun of its own stupidity. And ooh, its the Mecha-Yamaha!

I have a three-day weekend coming up, and I'm supposed to get a breath of fresh air by the seaside...but reservations got messed up somehow. Never mind, I have rights to bum around till Tuesday! Yehey!

Thanks, by the way to Oniisama for his kind get-well wishes. =) My back is much much better now!
It must be said, the way you listed Tin, Wami'sensei-sama, and Megumi's illnesses (or in Wami's case, damage)...hmn, gives me the mental image of...

The Illness-Damage Sentai! *corny-catchy theme here, pose*

Thursday, March 22, 2001 / 06:33 p.m.

The Backstreet Boys' new single, 'The Call'...is some bad date's good excuse sung in a really catchy tune.

    Sounds like it anyway. :p

The week really isn't much so far. My main highlight was when NJ dropped by my school last Tuesday to watch me play [pathetically] in basketball. Yes, I play basketball...only when I feel like it, or when I'm possesed by some demon to play. In truth, while the game is fun, I hate excercise and...I'm scared of the ball. I shriek anytime the ball whizzes past me, or towards me.
How I just barely survive the games astounds even me. Now, I suffer from back and arm pains. I had horsebackriding yesterday and forced myself through it though I haven't fully recovered from ball play the day before. Ouchie, ouchie.

If and when I get enough time to myself to download mp3s - I'm definitely downloading the 'Gatekeepers' and 'Boys Be' Opening and Ending themes.
By the way, 'Gatekeepers' has gorgeous character designs and animation, but the episode plots can be occasionally dumb. I watch it mostly to pass time while waiting for 'Boys Be', but when the characters or plot start getting stupid...I start channel surfing.
Oh, but really really cute evil bishy in 'Gatekeepers'! It's only now that evil, malicious grin (think ShiShio when facing Kenshin) actually looks appealing on someone! Nyahahaha!

By the way, my friend Kerochan has a pita. No actual content yet, but once it does have em - I'll be linking him. :) Hiya Kero!

Sunday, March 18, 2001 / 10:13 p.m.

I know wearing a bright smile on my face and so happily helping out customers does not suit me. With this said...I am seriously considering dropping my Hospitality class. It's a dull class, I find myself doodling on paper more often than not AND having more fun in my math class for goodness sake.

I also have a project for Hospitality due tomorrow, but I'm a lazy lil person and I have just finished cramming for History class. Somehow, I think I'm willing to take the fall for Hospitality. That's not too good a sign, is it?

So goes the life of the noble procrastinator. Kids, don't try it at home. =)

Friday, March 16, 2001 / 09:22 p.m.

I had my Theory of Knowledge/Philosophy class watch 'Serial Experiments Lain' last Thursday.

    YUM.

As my teacher says, he was impressed by the episodes so far (we watched the first episode that day). "Very postmodern." He says. I'm also glad to say that my classmates enjoyed it just as much, though they didn't really follow what the characters were saying. They're not too used to reading subtitles.

We'll be watching more Lain episodes over the next few sessions of TOK. Oh dandy. :D

Tuesday, March 13, 2001 / 05:57 p.m.

I don't think I'm as big a fan of anime as before for a number of reasons. One, is simply because I can't get as much as anime as I used to. My contacts are all in Manila, and I refuse to buy the pirated goods here after what happened to my copies of Trigun and City Hunter
Two, I've been busy. I don't have the time or energy to sit down and mull too deeply over anime - and its a miracle if anything on AXN really holds my attention for more than a few episodes. By the way, I get easily turned off by bad dubbing or subbing. And I get plain lazy sometimes and don't want to bother with getting stressed over catching 'this certain show at certain time'. I've been spoiled by video.
Three, I tend not to dwell too much in anime anymore. I mean, I do watch it, but after Gundam W and Weiss Kreuz...somehow, that habit I had of analyzing characters and rewriting situations in my head just waned. I don't do it as much, thus I don't write as much fanfiction as I used to. This also explains my sudden dissappearnces from the mls I'm on - Pinoy Otaku Mailing List, Gundam Wing Non-Yaoi Sanctuary, and so forth.

This doesn't mean that I've tired entirely of anime mind you. I'm still very easily drawn to anime (just keeping my attentions to a series is another story), and it still remains as one of my biggest hobbies.
I think, what keeps anime close to me is the weird coincedence that if I'm pondering a certain event or series of events in my life, I manage to stumble upon an anime or manga which illustrates the same situation I'm in to the characters in their story. It's a very pleasent surprise. I've nearly forgotten that such a thing happens till yesterday, when I switched on the TV and stumbled upon 'Boys Be' on AXN while channel surfing.
Teenage love. Wow, and it's one of the very few romantic anime where they take it from the point of view of a guy, it's very refreshing! It doesn't really offer any solutions to the personal situation that I've been pondering on, but it's still a comfort to watch. And I intend to follow 'Boys Be' till their last episode.
This goes to show that I won't be going cold turkey on my anime habit anytime soon.

Sunday, March 11, 2001 / 04:47 p.m.

Word of warning - Port5.com has tendency to go bonkers from time to time, so the links to my profile and my link list of other blogs may dissappear from time to time. There is just no such thing as good free webspace servce, is there? *sigh*

GET WELL SOON SELENE! Getting sick sucks. There has to be a better way to get out of school...kya~ I'll err, air mail some bubur ayam! ;) Take care, ne?

Rei-san, thanks so much for your comments on the new layout!

I do not want to do my history project just yet. Few more minutes. Few more minutes, I swearrr...
    Yeah right. ^^

Friday, March 9, 2001 / 04:47 p.m.

Well, I'm feeling better enough to have worked and HTMLized a new layout through the day! At last! The Javascript does have a few kinks to iron out...but it should do what it's supposed to do anyway.
So fear the DiGi Charat! Image originally taken from DigiCharat! by the way. Now bow and humble yourself before the cutesy-cutesy presence.

    Oh, and Oniisama...you're a raving lunatic. =)

Friday, March 9, 2001 / 08:41 a.m.

This entry is not recommended for people who had just had their lunch, or anything for that matter.

If you cannot trust the food at your own school to be safe, what food can you trust?
There have been complaints of people getting sick at my school canteen, and since I'm part of the student council I've been bugging the school to hurry up with the renovations they promised. While I still remained a regular patron of the school canteen.
Then last Weds, I fell ill with food poisoning. I ate my school canteen's noodles and later that afternoon I had a stomachache. All was well when I slept it off, then it returned with a vengeance the following day. I went to school feeling funny, it got worse a few hours later, I got a fever, I had to be sent home and had to see a doctor who commented that whatever it was I ate affected my respiratory tract. I was perscribed pills and told to lay off the spicy foods (there goes...about half of the local menu here ^^;) - then went home, my fever got worse, I had bouts of nausea and diarrhea that lasted till just yesterday.
Oh, but I feel fine now. A bit. Since the food poisning had some weird impact on my respiratory system, as the doctor said - I have this recurring headcold and I still have bouts of dizziness...but otherwise, I'm somewhat better.

I'm missing a school excursion to Pondok Indah Mall though. *pouts* I'm supposed to get graded for arcading (a.k.a, getting my butt kicked in tekken or luckily kicking someone else's butt in the game) *snarl* Of all the times I get sick, REALLY!
I'm returning to school with a vengeance. The school admin will have me getting on their case to hurry up with the renovations to the canteen dammit! And whoever cooked those noodles that made me sick must be shot!

I sound like a budding universal dictator already. ^.^ Now if you excuse me, the Corrs are on MTV...

Tuesday, March 6, 2001 / 11:43 p.m.

'I For You' by Luna Sea, I can play for about 500,000x or more and I just keep liking it more and more and more. I highly reccomend it as background music for those brooding over the evil 'L' word [love].

Pwe, these entries just get shorter and more petty as I'm swamped with more schoolwork. Bear with me. Or just go to some other blog where they'll actually let you play voyeur into their personal lives. I, for one, don't feel too comfortable sharing detailed accounts of my status with crushes, friends, etc.
I'm just writing in here now to pass time, actually. I'm awaiting an email from someone...but it isn't coming just yet. I'll give it just a few more minutes, then I'll log off and get to sleep.

Oh yes! I cleared the 'Easy' level of DDR Remix 2 last Saturday! Yayyy~ I'm damn lucky! DDR is such mindless fun. =)

Saturday, March 3, 2001 / 09:55 p.m.

*cough, sputter, gag* Someone came across this blog while looking for...Harry Potter lemon fanfiction?! Sick, sick sick!
A Harry Potter lime, maybe - but please people, lets not get too ripe. *sweatdrops* Jesu christe, even that sounds suggestive now, doesn't it? Mou.

Friday, March 2, 2001 / 10:25 p.m.

If chess is a game in which you're meant to be intellectually stimulated and very concentrated and serious...then playing chess with my classmate, Charon, is not recommended. How can you possibly take the game seriously when Charon keeps making his chess pieces talk and lets his prisoner pawns sodomize each other?

Very sick. But very funny. :p
